| 12 May'10 | The Joint Workshop on “Improved Responses to Economic Development and Rural Livelihood Problems in Bordering Regions of Georgia and Armenia” will take place on May 13-14 at Betsy’s Hotel in Tbilisi. The workshop will discuss the presentation of findings and recommendations of cross-border cooperation study, economic development and rural livelihood issues in bordering regions of Georgia and Armenia as well as the aspects of cooperation between the civil sector and local authorities. Representatives of civil society organizations, central and regional authorities, as well as international community representatives from Georgia and Armenia will participate in the workshop.
Joint Workshop on “Improved Responses to Economic Development and Rural Livelihood Problems in Bordering Regions of Georgia and Armenia” is organized by CARE International in the Caucasus in the framework of the project “Poverty Reduction and Confidence-building in Border Areas of Georgia and Armenia by Strengthening Civil Societies in Sustainable Rural Development" (STAGE II).
The goal of the project is to strengthen 10 target civil society institutions and local authorities from bordering regions (Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli from the Georgian side and Lori, Shirak and Tavush from the Armenian side) and provide increased cross-border cooperation for sustainable rural development. Total Budget of the project STAGE II comprises 463.980 Euro. The project started on May 1, 2009 and will last till October 31, 2011.
The project is implemented by CARE Osterreich and CARE International in the Caucasus, along with the partner organizations – Civil Development Agency (CiDA) in Georgia and Center for Agribusiness and Rural Development (CARD) in Armenia. STAGE II is financed by the “Austrian Development Cooperation and Cooperation with Eastern Europe” (ADC).
